Laser Gum Contouring & Tooth Crowns Smile Makeover

Sacramento Laser Gum Contouring After Patient PhotoCraig's teeth were crooked with discoloration. His gum line created the appearance of smaller, shorter teeth. He wanted a smile that he could show off. So, he contacted Sacramento Cosmetic Dentist, Dr. Swearingen for a smile makeover.

A smile makeover is any combination of a variety of cosmetic dentistry procedures. For Craig, a smile makeover included procedures to recontour and reshape his gums, straighten his teeth, and to create a brighter, whiter smile.

Dr. Swearingen spoke with Craig in an initial consultation and suggested laser gum contouring, porcelain veeners, and tooth crowns.

Laser gum contouring uses a specially designed dental laser to reshape the gum line of each tooth. This helps create the appearance of larger teeth. Craig no longer has a gummy smile.

Often used along with laser gum contouring are porcelain veneers. These are extremely thin shells of ceramic material. These thin shells were bonded directly to Craig's teeth. Porcelain veneers improved the look of his stained and damaged teeth.

Craig had some teeth that were worn down and cracked. Tooth crowns were used to repair his damaged teeth while adding strength and stability. Dr. Swearingen made a mold of Craig's teeth and a dental lab created a custom design. The natural colored tooth crowns were bonded to Craig's teeth.

Before Laser Gum Contouring

Sacramento Laser Gum Contouring Before PhotoA gummy smile can create a childlike look to a smile. Children's teeth are typically smaller and larger teeth replace the smaller teeth when approaching adulthood. Adult teeth can be covered by the gum line to make them look smaller.

After Laser Gum Contouring

Sacramento Laser Gum Contouring After PhotoLaser gum contouring creates a natural gum line to show more of the teeth. Craig's teeth look longer and larger and more like adult teeth.

Before Porcelain Veneers & Tooth Crowns

After Porcelain Veneers & Tooth Crowns

Sacramento Tooth Crowns After PhotoCraig's teeth now look straight and white. The tooth crowns help his teeth have the durability they need to last a long time and the porcelain veneers give him the straight, white smile he wanted.

Porcelain Veneers and Neuromuscular Dentistry Smile Makeover

Porcelain Veneers and Neuromuscular Dentistry

Knowing she had alignment problems with her bite, Ms. Willis came to the Konig Center for Cosmetic & Comprehensive Dentistry in Houston, Texas, looking for a completely new smile.

Dr. Konig thoroughly analyzed her smile and suggested the first step should concentrate on neuromuscular dentistry to realign her bite to the correct position, resulting in a less weary looking smile.

Ms. Willis displayed several symptoms of TMD, worn teeth, neck pain and clicking sounds in the jaw. Using various aligners over several months Dr. Konig was able to fully align her bite to the natural position. Other symptoms of TMJ include headaches, back aches, loose, cracked or broken teeth, and grinding your teeth.

Before Neuromuscular Dentistry and Porcelain Veneers

In this image Ms. Willis' misaligned bite is obvious with the lower jaw retracted into the mouth and the pronounced overbite. Dr. Konig used special aligners to slowly train the jaw muscles back to their correct position. Also seen here is severely worn lower teeth, slightly inward, as a result of the unnatural (forced) position. Notice the upper teeth are also worn and uneven from friction against the lower teeth.

After Neuromuscular Dentistry and Porcelain Veneers

Here, the natural alignment of the mouth can be seen with closure on the molars during bite and little, if any friction on the front teeth to prevent wear. To help keep the realignment permanent, Dr. Konig also used porcelain veneers to replace the worn down teeth of her previous smile. This results in a fantastic smile with all teeth visible, the jaw line and chin are more pronounced and chewing is done with much more ease. Gone are her symptoms of TMD, worn teeth, neck pain and clicking sounds in the jaw.

If you live in Baytown, Galveston, or Houston and have questions or concerns about your teeth and dental health, or additional questions about neuromuscular dentistry and porcelain veneers, schedule a cosmetic dentistry consultation with Dr. Konig at the Konig Center for Cosmetic & Comprehensive Dentistry. Your new and brighter smile could be just a phone call away!

Dental Bridges Smile Makeover

Smile Makeover in OmahaPatti did not like the color or the shape of her two front bridges. Her gum tissue was changed and her old bridges were replaced with two new porcelain bridges.

Omaha, Nebraska cosmetic dentist, Dr. Beninato, acheived the natural look that she desired with neuromuscular and cosmetic dentistry procedures.

Gum treatment can correct discolored, un-aligned, or receding gum lines. Gum tissue can make your teeth look too long, too short, crooked, or unhealthy. Even with perfect teeth, your gum tissue can effect the appearance of your smile. Dr. Beninato uses laser gum re-contouring to correct problems your gum line is causing. This is less recovery time than gum treatment with a scalpel. Gums are a large part of the beauty of your teeth, but the health of your gums helps with overall good dental health.

Dental bridges, also known as a fixed partial denture, replace damaged or unhealthy teeth. Dr. Beninato creates perfectly fitted dentures, partials, and bridges by permanently joining a dental restoration to adjacent teeth or dental implants. Dental bridges fit comfortably, stay in place, prevent further damage, and look like natural teeth.
